Shakuhachi

Self taught fashion designer, Jessie White, launched her womenswear label in 2000 with a small collection of handmade t-shirts, made on a budget of just $400. Presenting the three-piece neon printed t-shirt range to a boutique in Melbourne, it was bought on the spot. (Oh we remember the first delivery to a Qld boutique back in 2005, serious instant covet!) Grown out of a love of art and fashion, Shakuhachi has long been a regular feature in worldwide fashion press, including Aussie favourites Harpers Bazaar, Vogue, Yen, Madison and Marie Claire. Though huge label profile aside whilst Jessie makes her mark within the worldwide fashion industry she still resides quite anonomously, basing herself between Sydney and Bali whilst constantly concentrately on expanding on her brand.  Having come a long way from its original 3 piece debut, Shakuhachi has definitely growen up and sexier directions show collections abound in an array of print, colour, clever detailing whilst keeping that silhouette of mixing its functionality with its femininity... all with the trademark rock girl edge xx
